Jacob Cantrell

Managing Director, Portfolio Management

Mr. Cantrell began working with EJF in 2015, when he joined Armadillo Financial Partners LLC, an affiliate of EJF pursuing a direct lending strategy focused on law firm financing.

Mr. Cantrell currently serves as the Chief Risk Officer of Rocade Capital LLC, a subsidiary of EJF; he serves on Rocade’s investment committee and is a member of EJF’s ESG Committee. Mr. Cantrell focuses on asset quality, risk management and return optimization, and currently serves in a similar role for Armadillo. Mr. Cantrell has over 14 years of experience in the financial services and energy trading markets. Mr. Cantrell has served in key executive positions at The Commission Exchange, most recently as its chief financial officer, where he focused on developing a new asset class in the deregulated power and gas markets. Prior to The Commission Exchange, Mr. Cantrell was Credit Manager at EDF Trading, where he created the Strategic Credit & Structured Finance group focusing on lien-based commodity supply agreements and lending relationships. Mr. Cantrell also served as a vice president at a regional bank in Texas, where he created a loan review department, oversaw the credit analytics team, and worked closely with the board of directors. Mr. Cantrell has a Bachelor of Science in Finance from Illinois State University and an M.B.A. from the University of Texas.
